The Last Literary Society, 2026

Paper clay, PLA, textile pigment, scrap fabric, brass, wool fiber, quilt batting, embroidery thread, velvet, pvc pipe, wood, acrylic paint, handmade paper

The Last Literary Society consists of a diverse mix of puppets including mythical creatures, humans, and animals. From a peacock to cyclops, nobody is alike. Every puppet is attired from various sources of inspiration: from a 1950’s haute couture to modern-day middle management. The array of creatures are extenuated with an array of threads.

This village of puppets falls on three backdrops: a quaint village road, a fantastical forest home, and a comforting library. These villagers reside in a world where only one library exists, stranded on a secluded island between two lands. This library hidden in a cottage contains every book, film, and audio ever recorded. It is here that these characters find each other and connect through the last literary society.
